Week 2 9/11-9/15

Starting off the week, I continued my content filter project. To properly use this service DNS configuration and the switch to a static IP address are required, so that the assigned IP stays the same and the DNS will continue to work, after rebooting and reconnecting to the internet. I figured it out the DNS and IP configuration and was ready to test. I connected my phone to the Pi, by manually setting the DNS to the one I configured to the Pi, and on the web GUI it showed that clients were connected. The content filter was up and running but I still need to get domains of common ad services and pop ups including malware. Some pop ups will automatically download malware so, another feature of this was to prevent that. I manually found domains and included them into the backlist filter, which took long, so I found premade lists online that included upwards of 100,000 of domains. After rebooting the service everything worked as it should. To test the website and content filtering, I blacklisted certain sites and when I tried to view them on my phone, it would not connect to the website, successfully blocking them. I concluded the week by finishing up the final touches of the content filter.
